We are looking for a results orientated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) RN, with strong leadership interpersonal and communication skills to exercise administrative and functional supervision over nursing personnel as directed by the Administrator. The successful applicant will have strong leadership and supervisory skills, and enjoy working with the elderly. The Assistant Director of Nursing aides the DON in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Aide the DON in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and standards
  • Liaisons with residents, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan for resident needs

Requirements

  • Currently licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment
  • Supervisory experience in a long-term care setting
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to lead a team of nursing staff
  • Ability to teach and lead by example on all shifts
  • Knowledgeable of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in long term care facility
  • Ability to implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Knowledgeable in state reporting and developing and implementing plan of corrections
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism
  • RN licensed required
  • Long Term Care and Assisted Living Experience required
  • Supervisory: 2 years
  • Nurse Management: 2 years

  • Reviewing residents at increased risk of pressure sores, falls and other adverse events, and those who are clinically unwell, providing advice, support and assistance through clinical practices and documentation so as to ensure appropriate management plan is in place
  • Participate in handover and help troubleshoot any ongoing clinical issues and non-clinical issues, escalating to the Director of Nursing as appropriate
  • Ensuring medication practices are carried out according to An Bord Altranais guidelines and as per recommended practice in the nursing home
  • Ensuring that all nursing staff are deemed competent in all aspects of medication management
  • Ensuring that education on medication management practices is provided to all newly appointed staff as part of their induction
  • Undertaking regular MAMS Medicines audits in the centre and ensuring effective feedback and action plans are undertaken and reviewed
