The Administration department has an opening for a Full Time Assistant Director of Care position.
Job Responsibility:
Under the supervision of the Director of Care, oversees and manages the work and services provided by the nursing staff to meet the nursing and personal care needs of the residents within a multidisciplinary team environment
Responsible for the management of day-to-day operations and activities of the Registered Practical Nurses and Health Care Attendants (Personal Support Workers) in the Nursing Department
Assistant Director of Care in the management of human resources through a collaborative approach with corporate Human Resources, employees and unions
Assistant Director of Care in developing annual goals and objectives consistent with mission and strategic direction of the organization
Assists with the development and evaluation of policies and procedures ensuring compliance with all legislated standards and regulations
Implement best practices and continuous quality initiatives to ensure resident and staff satisfaction
Acts as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team
Assists with overseeing the Inter-RAI program
In collaboration with Corporate, ensures all mandatory education is completed
Assist in assessing and evaluating the nursing service programs ensuring compliance with Provincial standards and legislations
Conduct analysis and follow up of issues related to resident care, infection control, nursing quality and risk management programs
Assistant Director of Care in the development and administration of the annual operating and capital budget
Establish, participate and/or lead committees as required
Identify ethical issues and collaborate with the Director of Care for resolution
Provide clinical information for Corporate IT decision support
In the absence of the Director of Care assume responsibility for the administration of the nursing department
Carry out work assignments safely and is knowledgeable of and in compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedures (i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act, Fixing Long Term Care Act and Ontario Regulations)
To facilitate and manage student placements, as a Student Placement Coordinator will act as the liaison between the LTC home and educational institutions. Responsible for the onboarding, orientation and management of student placements in compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations and LTC home-specific policies
Perform other such duties or responsibilities that may be delegated or assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
Demonstrated knowledge of nursing clinical care and gerontology
3 years relevant supervisory experience, preferably in Long Term Care
In-depth knowledge and understanding of Fixing Long Term Care Act and Ontario Regulations and the College of Nurses standards
Highly effective leadership, facilitation, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to build effective relationships and work productively in a team environment
Ability to effectively manage a multi-disciplinary staff in an unionized environment
Advanced working knowledge of the internet, MS Office, specifically Excel and Word, Point Click Care (PCC). Inter-RAI-LTCF experience an asset
Knowledge of and experience with financial management and expenditure control preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel, and management
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload
Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis
