We are seeking an Assistant Director, Audit & Assurance to join a mission-driven department in the Sydney CBD. Working within the Office of the CFO, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the agency meets its business objectives through robust risk management and excellent assurance operations.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinate the internal audit program, including planning, scheduling, and monitoring deliverables
Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and internal audit service providers (including the ANAO)
Support the continuous improvement of assurance and control frameworks, preparing high-quality briefs and papers for Senior Executives and Audit Committees
Build a positive culture around audit by developing strong relationships across various business areas to influence and support audit outcomes
Identify and implement opportunities to improve audit coordination, reporting, and follow-up practices
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in internal audit, risk management, or governance preferably within a Commonwealth or public sector context
Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and exercise initiative when managing complex stakeholder relationships
Strong written and verbal skills, with experience preparing executive-level advice and influencing business areas to implement recommendations
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, audit, or risk are highly desirable
