Job Description

GM's Design Organization is seeking an Assistant Design Program Manager (ADPM) who will be responsible for medium complex programs, represent Design in Engineering and Program Teams, ensuring that our vehicles have world class craftsmanship, quality, usability, and an engaged customer experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Directly support Design Program Manager with cross-functional execution of Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) deliverables with goal of 100% on-time performance with quality
  • Utilize the GVDP and Design sub-processes to manage and deliver specific Design milestones
  • Represent the voice of Design cross-functionally to ensure deliverables and decisions are met per process and drive accountability as the neutral voice of the program internally
  • Support DPM to facilitate Operations Meetings (OPs) and Program Operation meeting (POPs) to track and resolve program issues, including documenting decisions and tracking action items to closure
  • Make program status highly visible, anticipate potential program risks, and support issue escalation
  • Demonstrate ability to bring stakeholders together to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Work with all levels of the organization, support DPM to facilitate studio design review, GDR, DRC reviews as needed
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships between Vehicle Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design functions
  • Utilize system to manage timing, workload, change control etc.
  • Maintain the Design Bill of Properties, follow and support property builds for assigned programs
  • Support the sculpting manager to manage the program of global sculpting solution team, incl timing, resource, liaison with global studios to align the production sculpting work assignment.
  • Other ad hoc requests from leadership, such as business operation support, logistic support

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree qualifications in design, business, engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of production development experience
  • 3+ years of program management relevant experience
  • design studio or engineering function experience is preferred
  • Strong facilitation skills with ability to adapt style to suit different audiences and situations
  • Ability to be predictive and proactive in a high-tempo work environment that is dependent on collaboration, decisiveness, and innovative thinking
  • Ability to act with a sense of urgency and remain calm under pressure
