The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour and one of the most important collections of its type in the world, housed at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire. We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Curator of Arms & Armour to join the existing team. The position is fixed term for 2 years. Reporting to the Curator of Asian & African Collections.
Job Responsibility:
Adding to the publicly available stock of knowledge of the European Edged Weapons, European Armour and Asian & African collections through cataloguing
Promoting the subject through answering enquiries
Assisting Curators and Keepers in the day-to-day management of the collections
Providing collections access
Assisting with exhibitions and research
Requirements:
Proven track record of working at museums
Passionate and knowledgeable about arms and armour
Excellent team player
Accountable, open, thorough, adaptable
Possess initiative
