We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Assistant Counsel – Patent Attorney to join our legal team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute patent strategies, including filing and prosecuting patent applications
Provide guidance to business units on patentability and assess infringement risks for new product developments
Oversee the management of the company’s global patent portfolio and maintain the prosecution docket
Collaborate with research, development, and engineering teams to identify and protect patentable innovations
Perform analyses on freedom-to-operate and competitive landscapes to support business decisions
Draft and review various commercial agreements, such as confidentiality, licensing, supply, and distribution contracts
Deliver compliance training and contribute to the development and upkeep of the company’s compliance program
Support mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other corporate development activities
Coordinate with external legal counsel and provide assistance with litigation matters when required
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active membership in a state bar association
At least 3-5 years of experience handling patents or intellectual property matters
Proven interest and knowledge in corporate and commercial legal practices
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment combining remote and in-person collaboration
Strong analytical abilities, organizational skills, and time management expertise
Willingness to engage in a mix of intellectual property and corporate legal responsibilities
