Job Description

Our client, a growing medical manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Assistant Controller to join their accounting leadership team. This role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional coming out of a Big 4 public accounting foundation who has successfully transitioned into industry and enjoys owning the general ledger, driving the month-end close process, and ensuring GAAP compliance in a fast-paced environment. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position offers strong visibility across the organization, leadership responsibility, and clear upward mobility as the company continues to grow.

Job Responsibility

  • Own and manage the company's general ledger function across multiple accounting areas
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with US GAAP
  • Support and improve internal controls, accounting processes, and close procedures
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analyses
  • Assist with external audits and serve as a key liaison with auditors
  • Partner cross-functionally with operational and finance teams within the manufacturing environment
  • Mentor, develop, and manage a growing accounting team
  • Assist the Controller with financial reporting, process improvements, and strategic initiatives
  • Support ERP optimization efforts and accounting system enhancements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Active CPA required
  • Public accounting foundation from a Big 4 firm strongly preferred
  • Prior industry experience required, ideally within manufacturing, medical device, healthcare manufacturing, or a product-based environment
  • Strong ownership mentality around the full general ledger and close process is critical
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP preferred, but not required
  • Proven leadership experience or demonstrated ability to mentor/manage staff
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to operate in a collaborative environment
  • Does not need industry experience, but does need to have CPA and come from a Big4/Public background

Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP preferred, but not required
