My client has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller to join a well-established non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. This role is ideal for an accounting candidate with non-profit and union experience who is seeking meaningful work, strong benefits, and excellent work-life balance. The Assistant Controller will support the accounting department by overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, managing union-related financial reporting, preparing supporting schedules, assisting with the annual audit, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Job Responsibility:
Facilitate the month-end close process
Assist with the annual Single Audit
Reconcile general ledger accounts and financial statements
Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and reporting requirements
Review and confirm accuracy of union codes and related reporting
Prepare supporting schedules and assist with additional administrative duties as needed
Requirements:
4+ years of non-profit accounting experience
Experience working with unions is strongly preferred
Proficiency with Sage accounting platforms preferred
CPA designation preferred
Nice to have:
