We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team in Santa Clara, California. In this role, you will assist the Controller in managing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This position requires strong attention to detail, expertise in construction accounting, and a collaborative approach to working with various departments.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with industry standards and organizational requirements
Manage job cost accounting tasks, including tracking schedules, cost-to-complete calculations, and percentage-of-completion reports
Perform reconciliations for general ledger accounts and balance sheet items to maintain data accuracy
Contribute to cash flow forecasting and budgeting to support organizational financial planning
Oversee revenue recognition and contract accounting processes to ensure compliance with relevant guidelines
Collaborate with project managers to evaluate job performance, profitability, and variance analysis
Develop and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to improve operational efficiency
Coordinate audits, tax preparation, and external reporting to meet regulatory and compliance obligations
Supervise and guide accounting staff, supporting growth and effective team collaboration
Requirements:
Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management
Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and auditing practices
Expertise in financial reporting and compliance within the construction industry
Hands-on experience with job cost accounting and related methodologies
Proficiency in revenue recognition and contract accounting principles
Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, including project and operational teams
Demonstrated ability to improve internal controls and implement accounting best practices
Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to support and develop accounting staff
