Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our client's team in Montgomery, Alabama. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical abilities and a solid understanding of accounting principles, who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced office environment. As this is a Contract-to-Permanent position, it offers the opportunity to transition into a long-term role based on performance.

Job Responsibility:

Review, allocate, and record accounts payable and receivable transactions to ensure accuracy
Document and refine business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls
Collaborate in setting financial standards and contribute to forecasting activities
Provide valuable input during departmental goal-setting initiatives
Identify and resolve accounting issues, offering actionable recommendations for improvement
Partner with fellow accountants and the Controller to manage various accounting tasks
Oversee and support all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition
Coordinate budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance reporting processes
Assist in generating timely monthly financial statements and regulatory reports

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution
At least 5 years of accounting experience in a detail-oriented environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Enterprise software
Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and month-end closing procedures
Ability to work on-site in Montgomery, Alabama in an office environment
Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams
