We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team on a contract basis in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This role requires an experienced and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in financial management and reporting, particularly within the non-profit sector.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and oversee month-end closing activities, ensuring all financial data is accurate and complete
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by performing reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with organizational policies and audit standards
Coordinate and support financial statement audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided
Generate detailed financial reports to support business decisions and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with the Controller to implement best practices and improve financial processes
Oversee account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items
Provide independent leadership in managing accounting operations and addressing challenges proactively
Assist with strategic planning and budgeting efforts to align with organizational goals
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles
Proven expertise in month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance
Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and audit processes
Experience working within the non-profit sector is highly preferred
Ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic environment
Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools
