Robert Half Management Resources is recruiting for an experienced Assistant Controller to support our publicly traded commercial real estate client on contract basis in Calabasas, California. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring onsite presence 2–3 days per week, 8+ months in duration and is focused on maintaining accuracy and compliance within the company’s accounting processes.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee daily accounting functions, including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and account reconciliations
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Supervise and mentor accounting team members, encouraging attention to detail and operational efficiency
Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards
Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial data
Collaborate with external auditors during quarterly and annual audits, providing necessary documentation and support
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and conducting variance analysis to support business planning
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and provide documentation for enhanced efficiency
Support ad hoc financial projects and system implementation efforts as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, including leadership responsibilities
Previous experience in commercial real estate or property management is highly preferred
Proficient in US GAAP and compliance standards for publicly traded companies
Hands-on experience with accounting systems and familiarity with system implementation processes
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
Excellent organizational and communication abilities to effectively lead and collaborate with teams
Ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic business needs
