We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Hoboken, New Jersey. In this role, you will play a critical part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving operational efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, paired with a proactive approach to process improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statement packages for management entities
Perform variance analysis to compare financial results against budgets, forecasts, and historical data, and communicate insights to stakeholders
Provide ongoing financial analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs) to internal and external stakeholders
Manage tax and regulatory filings by ensuring accurate and timely preparation and submission of all required returns
Oversee audit processes for management entities to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations
Maintain and update allocation databases with accurate valuations and reporting
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead monthly and quarterly close processes and implement process improvements
Utilize technology and outsourced solutions to enhance operational efficiencies and strengthen internal controls
Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reports and presentations
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), or similar corporate finance roles
Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and accounting principles
Strong intellectual curiosity with a focus on learning, process improvement, and problem-solving
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated and detail oriented, capable of independently driving projects to completion by leveraging available resources
Proficiency in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and financial statement audits
Familiarity with financial reporting standards and SEC reporting requirements
Nice to have:
Experience with public reporting is highly preferred
