Robert Half is partnering with a prestigious, globally backed winery estate to hire an Assistant Controller who will play a critical role in leading onsite accounting operations. This position offers direct exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to contribute during an exciting phase of growth and operational refinement. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving accurate financial reporting, supporting multi-entity operations, and enhancing processes across both estate and distribution activities.
Job Responsibility:
Lead day-to-day accounting operations with full ownership of the general ledger across multiple entities
Manage and execute the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Oversee inventory accounting, including COGS analysis, landed cost, and cost tracking
Handle intercompany transactions and support consolidation efforts in partnership with leadership
Prepare reconciliations, analyze variances, and deliver insights into financial performance
Partner with cross-functional teams to support operations and inform business decisions
Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to support scalability
Develop reporting tools and assist with budgeting and forecasting efforts
Supervise, mentor, and develop a small accounting team
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
Background in winery operations strongly preferred
will consider manufacturing or other inventory-heavy industries
Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience working within ERP systems
Solid foundation in inventory accounting, including costing and cost analysis
Demonstrated experience in multi-entity environments, including intercompany activity, ownership of month-end close, and financial statement preparation
