We are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Controller to join our manufacturing team in Salinas, California. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations, providing strategic insights to support business decisions, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership abilities, expertise in accounting, and understanding of manufacturing processes.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee financial operations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to compliance standards
Prepare and manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Develop and maintain financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses to guide decision-making
Collaborate with leadership to analyze financial data and recommend strategies for cost optimization and profitability
Monitor inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and overhead allocation within manufacturing operations
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with tax regulations
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering growth and development
Partner with external auditors to manage audit processes and ensure regulatory compliance
Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance department and implement effective solutions
Work closely with cross-functional teams to align financial strategies with operational goals
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or packaging industries
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Proficiency in financial reporting systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
Proven leadership experience with ability to mentor and develop teams
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in dynamic environments
Experience with inventory and cost accounting in manufacturing settings is highly desirable
