Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Portland, Maine. In this long-term contract position, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the development of accounting policies. Job Responsibility:

Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all financial activities
Oversee the general ledger, maintaining its integrity and ensuring compliance with established accounting standards
Coordinate and support financial statement audits, working closely with auditors to provide required documentation and explanations
Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring they meet organizational and regulatory requirements
Conduct research and analysis on complex accounting transactions, developing and implementing policies that align with company standards
Provide mentorship and guidance to the accounting team, reviewing their work to ensure accuracy and adherence to guidelines
Assist in creating and implementing internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the reliability of financial reporting
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver detailed financial analyses and insights
Utilize Deltek software to streamline accounting processes and enhance reporting capabilities

Requirements:

Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management
Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and regulatory compliance
Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial reports
Ability to research and implement accounting policies based on complex transactions
Skilled in mentoring and supervising accounting staff
Experience with establishing and maintaining internal controls
Advanced proficiency in Deltek software or similar accounting systems
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
