Job Description

Fantastic opportunity for a Senior Accountant looking to take the next step in their career and gain managerial experience. Opportunity to work for a private equity backed firm, mentor under a great CFO, and have room to grow to Controller as the company continues to grow and expand. A successful candidate will play an integral part of the accounting & finance department, demonstrating sharp analytical thinking and leadership in a dynamic environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Direct accounting department activities, including full-cycle accounting operations and the monthly close process
  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
  • Work in conjunction with the finance team on revenue recognition processes and accurate reporting
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
  • Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting or related field
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
  • Advanced credentials such as a MBA or CPA are preferred
  • Familiarity with Revenue Recognition standards a plus
  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
  • Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the 'why'

  • Record recurring and nonrecurring accruals throughout monthly and year-end closing cycles
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax filings, year-end audit preparation, and coordination with external auditors
  • Support budgeting, costing analysis, inventory-related accounting activities, and reporting in a standard cost manufacturing environment
  • Review production, expense, and system-generated transactions for completeness and accuracy, and contribute to process and ERP system improvements where appropriate
