We are looking for an Assistant Controller to support accurate financial operations and strengthen reporting processes for a manufacturing environment in Farmingdale, New York. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, coordinating month-end activities, and helping ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, audit support experience, and the ability to translate financial data into clear reporting for business leaders.
Job Responsibility
Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy
Maintain the general ledger and review financial records to support complete and reliable accounting data
Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports that provide management with meaningful insight into business performance
Partner with internal teams to support financial statement audits by organizing documentation, responding to requests, and addressing follow-up items
Apply US GAAP principles in daily accounting work and assist in keeping reporting practices aligned with compliance requirements
Support cost accounting activities within a manufacturing setting, including analysis of inventory, production costs, and related variances
Contribute to government contract compliance efforts by assisting with DCAA-related accounting documentation and reporting needs
Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, internal controls, and the overall efficiency of financial operations.
Requirements
At least 5 years of accounting or finance experience, including responsibility for close cycles and financial reporting
Proven background working with general ledger management and month-end close procedures
Experience supporting financial statement audits and preparing schedules or documentation for auditors
Working knowledge of US GAAP and its application within a corporate accounting environment
Familiarity with manufacturing accounting, including cost accounting concepts and inventory-related analysis
Understanding of DCAA requirements or experience supporting accounting practices tied to government contracting
Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare accurate reports and interpret financial information clearly.
