Job Description

Robert Half Finance & Accounting is seeking an Assistant Controller for a global manufacturer in Sparks, NV. This newly created role will support the North American business unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background and oversee general ledger functions, cost accounting, fixed assets, sales and use tax compliance, as well as accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Job Responsibility

  • Overall GL Administration
  • Prepare and enter General Journals as required to close books
  • Daily Cash Reconciliation
  • General account reconciliations and maintenance
  • General Manufacturing/Cost Accounting
  • Sales & Used Tax Filings
  • Fixed Asset Accounting
  • Supports AP and AR clerk as needed, checking and approving payment vouchers, and ensuring proper accounting of customer accounts and posting of customer payments

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Accounting and 5+ years of accounting and finance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Capable of working in a team environment and of managing multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated, with critical attention to detail and deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP
  • Proficient in analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements, and forecasts
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise manner

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and review key accounts regularly to uphold strong accounting accuracy and control standards
  • Assist with annual audit preparation by coordinating schedules, documentation, and communication with external audit partners
  • Contribute to cash flow forecasting through monthly and quarterly analysis that supports planning and operational visibility
  • Produce required state filings and maintain organized financial records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze inventory performance and turnover trends to help identify issues and support informed operational decisions
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, recommend practical solutions, and help implement process enhancements
  • Collaborate across departments to promote clear communication, alignment, and effective financial support throughout the business
