We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of a public-sector organization in Burbank, California. This position partners closely with finance leadership to strengthen accounting oversight, reporting accuracy, budgeting activities, and audit coordination. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in governmental or public accounting, sharp analytical judgment, and the ability to work effectively across departments.
Job Responsibility
Support daily accounting operations
Contribute to major finance system initiatives
Prepare and consolidate financial deliverables
Participate in budget cycle
Analyze monthly revenue and expense activity
Review work prepared by accounting staff
Coordinate with external auditors
Develop and review spreadsheets and reconciliations
Evaluate internal controls
Collaborate with internal stakeholders
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting
At least five years of experience in public, governmental, or management accounting and/or auditing
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Demonstrated ability to research complex accounting matters
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of accounting standards implementation
Ability to guide or train staff on accounting practices
