As Assistant Controller at Hebbia, this role will own accounting and financial operations. This individual will be responsible for overseeing our books, leading the monthly close process, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring accuracy and compliance. We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual to build our accounting function from the ground up to support our hypergrowth trajectory. This will be a hands-on role, with the opportunity to build and lead a team over time.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee and/or execute on all core accounting activities
Lead the monthly and annual close processes, including review/approval of journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and financial statement tie-outs to ensure accurate and timely reporting
Drive audit readiness and execution by serving as primary point of contact for external auditors and ensuring timely completion of deliverables
Design, implement, and enforce internal controls, policies, and standard operating procedures that strength risk management and operational scaling
Partner with the leadership team to support on any fundraising initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA certification required
7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in high-growth startups/tech companies
Deep accounting expertise with thorough knowledge of current GAAP standards
Demonstrated experience scaling financial operations in a hypergrowth environment
Proficiency in accounting systems (preferably with modern AI ERPs) and other financial systems
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
ability to clearly explain financial / accounting details to other stakeholders
