We’re seeking an Assistant Controller to partner closely with the Controller and CFO to support accounting operations, strengthen GAAP compliance, and help evolve processes within a growing, mission-driven nonprofit organization. This is a hands-on opportunity that will evolve over time.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
Help build and strengthen internal controls, policies, procedures, and SOPs
Prepare and support financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reporting
Monitor budgets and financial performance to inform leadership decisions
Oversee cash flow, AP/AR, and purchasing activities
Support annual audits and fixed asset reporting
Manage contracts and insurance programs to ensure proper coverage and compliance
Partner closely with the Controller to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong GAAP knowledge
Working knowledge of government accounting and federal/state/local regulations
Experience supporting audits and financial compliance
Collaborative communicator, comfortable in a hybrid work environment
Ability to build, document, and improve accounting processes and procedures
