Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller / Controller to join our team in the NW suburbs. In this role, you will oversee financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and effective management of accounting processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of a growing organization within the construction industry. Supervising three in accounting.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to provide insights and support decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and oversee audit procedures
  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering collaboration and growth focused on attention to detail
  • Streamline accounting workflows and improve organizational efficiency
  • Manage and utilize accounting software, including advanced features in Microsoft Excel
  • Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial forecasting to maintain fiscal health
  • Collaborate with leadership to align financial strategies with organizational goals
  • Implement and oversee internal controls to safeguard financial assets

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software, with experience in NetSuite preferred
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
  • Solid understanding of compliance, financial regulations, and audit processes
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments

Nice to have

  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus
  • Experience in NetSuite preferred
