Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Assistant Controller to support financial leadership within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with the Controller to oversee accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and strengthen cost accounting and internal controls. The ideal candidate combines technical accounting expertise with a deep understanding of manufacturing operations and the ability to lead and develop a team.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
  • Oversee and enhance cost accounting processes, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Analyze manufacturing performance, including labor, material, and overhead variances, and provide insights to leadership
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership to improve cost controls and operational efficiency
  • Lead inventory accounting processes, including physical counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation procedures
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, including margin and cost analysis
  • Strengthen and maintain internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and audit requirements
  • Support external and internal audits and coordinate with auditors as needed
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performing team environment
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements, including ERP optimization and automation initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant exposure to manufacturing environments
  • Strong expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
