Job Description:

A prominent, full-service law firm is seeking a highly experienced Assistant Conflicts Counsel to join its Conflicts & Ethics team. This is a senior-level role supporting firm attorneys and leadership by managing complex conflicts matters, including mergers, lateral hires, and new business intake, while ensuring compliance with responsibility and legal ethics requirements. This position can be based in any U.S. office and offers flexibility with remote work as business needs require.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partner with Conflicts Counsel to help manage and mentor a team of Conflicts Attorneys and Analysts in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Lead law firm merger conflicts from inception through resolution, including conflicts analysis, waiver coordination, ethical wall implementation, and stakeholder communication
  • Run, analyze, and resolve complex conflicts searches for new matters and lateral hires using Intapp Conflicts, Intake, and Walls
  • Identify and resolve ethical conflicts and business issues in collaboration with firm attorneys, General Counsel, and internal stakeholders
  • Draft and negotiate engagement letters, complex conflict waivers, and ethical screen memoranda
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain ethical walls using firm systems
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and support firm growth
  • Assist with training and development of new Conflicts Attorneys
  • Provide exceptional client service to attorneys and legal support staff
  • Travel to U.S. offices as needed and support matters outside of standard business hours when required

Requirements:

  • J.D. required
  • 10+ years of conflicts experience in a mid- to large-sized law firm
  • Advanced proficiency with Intapp Conflicts, Intake, and Walls
  • Strong experience handling conflicts related to law firm mergers and lateral onboarding
  • Deep knowledge of legal ethics, responsibility, and conflicts rules
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and discretion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues for diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
