Job Description:

The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for supervising maintenance operations and maintaining the physical structure of the hotel. The role includes repairing hotel facilities, coordinating departmental activities, and managing personnel actions such as worker motivation and training. Other duties include responding to guest service requests, maintaining records, and ensuring projects meet specifications. The position also involves analyzing work problems, performing routine maintenance tasks, and working within budgeted expense plans.

Job Responsibility:

Supervise maintenance operations as well as repair and maintain the physical structure of the hotel
Assume control of the Engineering Department when the Chief Engineer is unavailable
Ensure projects are completed on time and according to specifications
Maintain the hotel, pool, and surrounding areas, performing minor and routine maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, HVAC functions, etc.
Respond to guest requests for service and keep records of rooms completed
Observe equipment and utility meter readings daily
Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets and learn emergency procedures
Coordinate activities closely with Housekeeper and Front Desk managers
Perform work within departmental expense plans
Analyze and resolve work problems
Motivate workers and initiate personnel actions such as training, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly

Requirements:

2+ years of hands-on experience at a comparable location in Engineering
Experience in leading teams
Computer Savvy
Excellent communication skills
