The Assistant Chief Engineer will oversee and coordinate the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of facility equipment across all building systems. This leadership role requires demonstrated technical expertise in multiple craft areas (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) while supervising and mentoring operating engineers to ensure successful completion of daily/weekly work assignments and facility operations.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise and coordinate maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility equipment at client sites
Lead maintenance, monitoring and repair operations for Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems
Manage facility services operations including preventative maintenance programs, purchasing and inventory control, contractor oversight, and technical team development
Review and analyze equipment readings, authorize adjustments, and ensure proper operation of all facility equipment
Oversee HVAC systems maintenance including cleaning, inspection, calibration and parts replacement to maintain optimum performance levels
Analyze monthly client service request summaries to identify trends, develop solutions, and implement corrective measures for recurrent operational problems
Evaluate and manage vendor and supplier relationships regarding quality standards and competitive pricing
Coordinate and supervise event setup/teardown activities including electrical, audio visual, security coordination and related logistics
Assist Chief Engineer with budget planning, staff scheduling, and operational reporting
Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
5+ years of similar working experience with 2+ years in supervisory or lead capacity
Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent required
Certification as Universal Technician for CFC's (or within 90 days of employment)
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex system operations, diagnose problems/malfunctions, and implement corrective solutions
Proven leadership and team management skills with ability to train and mentor junior staff
Advanced working knowledge of computer applications including Word, Excel, and facility management software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interactions
Availability for Call-in work and emergency response coordination
Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach and lay as required to access equipment components for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
