Job Description:

Assistant Category Manager position on the Confections team focusing on Seasonal Confections business, including financials, assortment planning, promotions, and vendor management. The role involves collaborating with manufacturers and vendors to drive sales and profitability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute directly to sales and margin goals
  • Assist in building category strategies for seasonal merchandising programs
  • Collaborate with an internal team of CVS professionals in Pricing, Promotion, Marketing, Inventory, Visual Merchandising, and Finance
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of current competition
  • Search out new competitive opportunities and make recommendations
  • Keep abreast of changes in the market
  • Research customer product preferences, supplier prices and the competitive environment
  • Oversee other colleagues such as a Merchandising Analyst

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a CPG manufacturing company, retail organization, or in an analytical, merchandising, or buying position
  • 3+ years of experience developing and executing plans, review data, consumer insights and identifying business opportunities to deliver expected financial and share results
  • 3+ years of experience collaborating with cross functional team members, internally and with suppliers
  • 3+ years of experience developing cohesive category strategies to deliver on both short-term and long term goals and adapts change based on consumer/market dynamics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Nice to have:

  • Strong working knowledge of retail math concepts and demonstrated application
  • Strong leadership and storytelling abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to implement strategies and use negotiation tactics to grow sales
  • Technical experience in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Office, Word
  • some Access or other database knowledge
  • Master's degree preferred
