Job Description:

This position assists the Building Commissioner, who is the chief administrative officer of the town’s Building Department. This position has the potential for advancement to Building Commissioner within an approximate time frame of 24 months.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assists the Building Commissioner in providing administrative, supervisory and inspection work related to the enforcement and interpretation of local and state building codes and permitting
  • Assists with building and occupancy permitting process and enforcement of the local Zoning Ordinance
  • Performs inspections for permitting and compliance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master craftsman level of knowledge
  • Five years of experience in residential and commercial building construction or trades
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License
  • State Certification as a Local Inspector
  • Certification by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) as a Building Commissioner/Inspector of Buildings (within two years of the date of hire)
