Job Description:

As Assistant Branch Manager, you will support the Branch Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the branch. This is a hands‑on leadership role, combining customer service, sales, people management and operational responsibility. You will play a key role in driving sales performance, motivating the team and ensuring an outstanding experience for every customer.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support customers at the trade counter and over the phone
  • Assist with loading, stock handling and general branch duties
  • Work alongside the Branch Manager on branch performance and development
  • Supervise, motivate and support a team of colleagues
  • Help deliver the branch sales and margin targets
  • Manage stock replenishment and stock control
  • Ensure safe, efficient daily operations and Health & Safety compliance
  • Maintain high standards of customer service at all times
  • Provide cover for the Branch Manager when required
  • Carry out additional duties to support branch operations

Requirements:

  • Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role (builders’ merchant or electrical trade preferred)
  • Strong customer‑focused mindset
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills
  • Confident communicator with strong people skills
  • Good commercial awareness and sales understanding
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Approachable, professional and team‑focused leadership style
