As Assistant Branch Manager, you will support the Branch Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the branch. This is a hands‑on leadership role, combining customer service, sales, people management and operational responsibility. You will play a key role in driving sales performance, motivating the team and ensuring an outstanding experience for every customer.
Job Responsibility:
Support customers at the trade counter and over the phone
Assist with loading, stock handling and general branch duties
Work alongside the Branch Manager on branch performance and development
Supervise, motivate and support a team of colleagues
Help deliver the branch sales and margin targets
Manage stock replenishment and stock control
Ensure safe, efficient daily operations and Health & Safety compliance
Maintain high standards of customer service at all times
Provide cover for the Branch Manager when required
Carry out additional duties to support branch operations
Requirements:
Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role (builders’ merchant or electrical trade preferred)
Strong customer‑focused mindset
Excellent organisation and administration skills
Confident communicator with strong people skills
Good commercial awareness and sales understanding
Ability to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues
Approachable, professional and team‑focused leadership style
