Job Description:

The Department of Environmental & Public Health, Administration and Medical Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. The position serves core and major courses in the department, including courses in the B.S. in Public Health (with Health Promotion and Pre-Professional concentrations) and the Master of Public Health program (with a Health Promotion concentration).

Job Responsibility:

  • Teach a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in public health
  • Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda
  • May conduct academic advising
  • Participate in service to the department, university, and community
  • Help the Public Health program continue toward innovation and excellence
  • Play a vital role in integrating principles of epidemiology and public health informatics into teaching

Requirements:

  • Earned doctorate in Public Health or a doctorate in a related discipline with a master’s degree in public health
  • Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Analytic and problems solving skills
  • Active and effective listening skills
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and students
  • Ability to understand and adapt to current trends in professional communication
  • Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity

Nice to have:

  • A minimum of an equivalent of one (1) year of full-time teaching experience in a public health program
  • A minimum of three (3) years of public health practice experience
  • Experience in obtaining external funding through grants and/or contracts
  • Strong background in epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health informatics
  • Proficiency in statistical software and data visualization tools
  • CHES or CPH certification
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline
