The Department of Environmental & Public Health, Administration and Medical Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. The position serves core and major courses in the department, including courses in the B.S. in Public Health (with Health Promotion and Pre-Professional concentrations) and the Master of Public Health program (with a Health Promotion concentration).
Job Responsibility:
Teach a combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in public health
Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda
May conduct academic advising
Participate in service to the department, university, and community
Help the Public Health program continue toward innovation and excellence
Play a vital role in integrating principles of epidemiology and public health informatics into teaching
Requirements:
Earned doctorate in Public Health or a doctorate in a related discipline with a master’s degree in public health
Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Analytic and problems solving skills
Active and effective listening skills
Ability to collaborate with peers and students
Ability to understand and adapt to current trends in professional communication
Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity
Nice to have:
A minimum of an equivalent of one (1) year of full-time teaching experience in a public health program
A minimum of three (3) years of public health practice experience
Experience in obtaining external funding through grants and/or contracts
Strong background in epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health informatics
Proficiency in statistical software and data visualization tools
CHES or CPH certification
Knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline
