Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Accountant to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow in a structured environment offering in-house training and full study support toward professional qualifications. Responsibilities include bookkeeping, VAT returns, statutory financial statements preparation, and assisting with personal and corporate tax compliance.

Job Responsibility:

Processing and reconciling bank statements, sales, purchases, and nominal ledgers
Assisting in VAT return preparation
Maintaining accurate financial records for clients
Preparing statutory financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, and companies
Assisting with year-end procedures
Supporting Self-Assessment and corporation tax returns
Researching tax legislation and HMRC guidance.

Requirements:

Must have practice experience
Strong understanding of tax compliance
Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures
Ability to process and reconcile bank statements, sales, purchases, and nominal ledgers
Capability to assist in the preparation of VAT returns
Proficiency in the preparation of Self-Assessment tax returns and corporation tax
Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Nice to have:

Experience with diverse client base
Familiarity with statutory financial statements preparation
Interest in career progression within an accountancy firm.
