Job Description:

We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team, this role plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely financial information across the organisation. This role will support robust financial controls, cashflow forecasting, and reporting, while providing high-quality finance support to colleagues with budgetary responsibility. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or finance professional looking to develop their skills in a varied and supportive environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain key balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and control accounts
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of accounts receivable, including invoicing and debt recovery
  • Accurately track and report on designated and restricted funds and grants, working closely with budget holders
  • Prepare and maintain 4-weekly rolling cashflow forecasts
  • Support financial monitoring, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Assist with the development and improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting
  • Support the production of clear, accessible financial information for non-finance managers
  • Provide cover for the Management Accountant when required

Requirements:

  • Part-qualified or actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification
  • Proven experience in a similar finance role
  • Strong Excel skills (including pivot tables) and excellent attention to detail
  • Confident working with financial systems (Access Financials desirable but not essential)

Nice to have:

  • Experience within the charity sector
  • Knowledge of Charity SORP
  • Sage 50 Payroll
  • HR systems (PeopleHR/Evo Access)
