Job Description:

The responsibility of the Asset Protection Detective consists of apprehending suspects who commit shoplifting crimes and completing/submitting necessary reports in a timely manner. The AP Detective maintains constant communication with store management and uniformed security guards working together as a team to prevent losses. The AP Detective appears in court for restitution and prosecution of crimes committed against Vallarta Supermarkets.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conduct external theft investigations including working undercover and apprehending suspects committing shoplifting crimes
  • Recover assets and make safe apprehensions
  • Ensure compliance with company Asset Protection Department apprehension guidelines
  • Complete incident reports and submit to corporate office
  • Must be able to write clear and concise crime reports that can later be used in court
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with suspects of shoplifting, law enforcement officers, and store management
  • Asset Protection Detectives must be able to testify in court concerning any criminal or civil case
  • This position requires travel between locations in the district based on business needs

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior loss prevention experience in theft apprehensions is preferred but not required
  • Must possess the ability to make good sound decisions under stressful situations
  • Must be able to maintain/manage confidential information
  • Must be able to stand/walk the sales floor for the entire scheduled shift
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays appropriate to retail business needs
  • Must be able to submit and successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Basic understanding of Spanish and English language
  • reading, writing, and speaking
