Reporting directly to the CEO, this role sits on the senior leadership team and is responsible for shaping and delivering the strategy across infrastructure, asset management, and health & safety.
Job Responsibility:
Shaping and delivering the strategy across infrastructure, asset management, and health & safety
Leading a broad and complex asset portfolio
Influencing organisational direction
Driving continuous improvement
Embedding a high-performing safety culture
Working across a diverse range of assets—from operational rail infrastructure and visitor facilities through to specialised plant and unique environments
Shaping long-term asset and safety strategies
Requirements:
Proven senior leadership experience across asset management, infrastructure, facilities, and/or health & safety
Strong working knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and regulatory frameworks
Demonstrated experience leading and improving safety management systems in complex, operational environments
Track record of managing diverse asset portfolios, including maintenance, renewals, and compliance
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing contractors to deliver outcomes
Ability to balance strategic planning with operational delivery in a safety-critical environment
Strong reporting, communication, and stakeholder engagement capability
Willingness to participate in an on-call roster and be based within close proximity to site
Nice to have:
Experience in tourism, transport, heritage, or similarly complex operational environments
Exposure to rail, mechanical systems, or specialised infrastructure assets
Interest in conservation, arts, or community-focused organisations
Experience engaging with regulatory bodies and leading audits
Ability to deputise at an executive level when required
