Job Description

The Citizens Asset Finance (CAF) Portfolio Management Team Lead is a senior level professional position. Working in a team environment, this professional will oversee a team of portfolio managers who are responsible for portfolio monitoring, transaction structuring, underwriting, credit approval and problem loan identification. This leader will report to the Head of Underwriting & Portfolio Management, and works directly with CAF President, Credit Risk Management and Relationship Managers to lead credit recommendation discussions on portfolio requests and/or modifications, evaluate credit opportunities, manage portfolio workflows, maintain portfolio quality and ensure credit process efficiencies.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and manage a team of individuals responsible for credit, portfolio management and documentation within the designated region
  • In conjunction with senior management and sales managers, drive new business growth that provides an acceptable return for the bank while minimizing potential credit risk
  • Prescreen and structure corporate lease and loan transactions for types of firms in multiple industries, conduct independent credit due diligence, and analyze / underwrite transactions in a timely manner
  • Review and decision new credit requests and annual reviews within designated approval authority ensuring compliance with all commercial credit policy and CAF guidelines
  • Provide outstanding service levels to external / internal customers as well as develop positive rapport with senior credit management and credit counterparts across Citizens
  • Manage and monitor a small portfolio of customer relationships in accordance with commercial credit policy guidelines
  • Monitor performance of the ongoing changes and solicit feedback from the internal customers in an effort to refine the structure appropriately

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, and/or MBA preferably in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to achieve deadlines, manage and prioritize multiple initiatives and deliver on commitments in a high volume environment
  • 10-15 years of Commercial Banking Portfolio Management experience required
  • Equipment Finance / Asset Finance experience, including knowledge across a wide range of asset classes and obligor types required
  • Prior management and mentoring skills required
