Job Description

Help shape the future of our water infrastructure through strategic planning, asset lifecycle management, and data-driven decision making. The Asset Engineer – Planning plays a critical role in supporting the long-term sustainability and performance of our water, wastewater, and stormwater networks. Working at the intersection of asset management, infrastructure planning, and data analytics, you'll help ensure investment decisions are informed by robust data, lifecycle principles, and future service needs. This role is responsible for developing long-term infrastructure plans, renewal forecasts, and asset valuation frameworks that support resilient and financially sustainable service delivery. Working closely with operational, planning, and asset management teams, you'll provide the insights, modelling, and technical expertise needed to optimise infrastructure performance and support future growth.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop long-term plans for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure that support growth and future service needs
  • Lead asset lifecycle planning, renewal forecasting, and infrastructure valuation activities
  • Maintain and utilise modelling tools to support scenario testing, capacity planning, and investment decisions
  • Ensure asset data is accurate, reliable, and fit for strategic planning and reporting purposes
  • Provide technical insights to support asset management plans, investment strategies, and regulatory reporting
  • Work collaboratively across planning, operations, and asset management teams to deliver sustainable infrastructure outcomes

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, with at least 5 years’ experience in infrastructure planning (ideally within water services)
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, renewal forecasting, and infrastructure valuation
  • Proficiency with GIS, AMIS, and modelling tools, with proven experience in data governance and validation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • Collaborative, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to balance strategic intent with practical outcomes
