Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking to provide students of Boeing Pre-Employment Training (BPET) certified courses with the opportunity to join our 787 production teams working as an Aircraft Assembly Electrical or System Mechanic to support the 787-production system in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift. This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage their prior experience, along with the knowledge gained through foundational training and certifications, to complete daily assigned tasks safely and with quality. Individuals will be responsible for identifying parts and tooling within their work locations on advanced airplanes by interpreting technical drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and strict compliance with procedures are critical to correctly identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect-free work. This position is physically demanding, and employment is contingent upon successful completion of foundational training requirements. Job Responsibility:
Adhering strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines
Maintaining rigorous quality standards in all deliverables
Look up/read/comprehend electronic technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications
Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task performed
Operate various mechanical lifts
Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment
Apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes
Inspect your work quality and check for Foreign Object Debris
Work around energized sources and exposure to constant noise
Finger manipulation
Lifting and carrying
Climbing/balancing, crawling, crouching
Flexion/Extension, handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking
Install various aircraft system components and wiring
Route wire harnesses to supports, install connectors to receptacles and electronic components
Fiber optic clean and inspection, light loss testing, routing and installation
Work in confined space and respirator usage
Requirements:
Be a student or recent graduate of a Boeing Pre-Employment Training course that is certified for the BPET Assembly Systems Mechanic role
Ability to work a variable shift
Ability to meet physical demands of the role such as flexion and extension, handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking, climbing/balancing, crawling, crouching
Ability to lift/carry up to 10-35 pounds
Ability to work with high-hazard chemicals
Ability to complete and maintain Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications
Experience using software applications such as internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or other specialized computer applications
Experience following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English
Experience applying mathematical calculations
Experience in a technical, or mechanical field performing work with basic hand, power, and/or pneumatic (air) tools
Must successfully complete the new hire foundational training to obtain and maintain all required certifications
Proficient use of a computer in a dynamic production environment
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required
