Job Description:

Opportunity for aspiring Speech and Language Therapists to work as a Teaching Assistant in a mainstream secondary school. The school provides hands-on experience, training, and collaboration opportunities with therapists, supporting children with various needs, including autism and speech/language challenges. Contract runs from September 2025 to July 2026 with a potential for extension.

Job Responsibility:

Take part and lead specialist interventions in Lego Therapy, Speech and Language, Zones of Regulation & more
Work closely with specialist Teachers, Therapists & Psychologists to best support secondary-aged pupils with various needs
Provide training and support for students across Key Stage 3 – Key Stage 5
Support students 1-2-1 and in small groups, inside and outside of the classrooms

Requirements:

A graduate with a 1st Class or 2:1 – subject isn’t a barrier, ideally from a reputable university
Good A-Levels and GCSEs – including English at GCSE
Previous experience supporting children, young people or adolescents – Essential
This can be tutoring, nannying, babysitting, volunteering or personal experience
A genuine passion for supporting young people with barriers to learning
An inquisitive, warm and nurturing personality
Must be able to speak confidently and calmly – personality is everything in these roles
