This position is a member of a team that operates parts of the asphalt process. The schedule includes up to 3 months of training on day shift. The successful candidate will then move to the night shift after completion of the training period, 7PM-7AM alternating 36 hr and 48 hr workweeks.
Job Responsibility:
Certify and operate in all of the following areas: Packaging, Truck/Railcar Loading and Unloading, Quality Control Procedures
Perform the administrative tracking tasks of data entry, BOL processing, production entry, receiving, and general organization
Be able to climb stairs, read panel displays, use operations manuals for troubleshooting, use full upper body movement for process, stand up to 12 hours with breaks, climb up and down railcars
Become certified to operate a forklift
Test, measure and enter data on quality using our computer system requiring general math skills and the ability to discern variation
Attend and participate in meetings and training
Use project management documentation (reading and writing skills), participate in projects and equipment repairs and upgrades with maintenance personnel
Meet team expectations such as reliability, teamwork, and process improvement
Maintain and improve productivity teamwork, quality and safety
Ability to meet Portland Asphalt attendance requirements
Requirements:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required or willing to obtain GED within first year of employment
Obtain a valid forklift driver certification
Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment a preference
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
Must work well in team environment
Must have to ability to do basic mathematical calculations
Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument
Good mechanical skills
Basic computer skills (training available)
Good team communication skills
Excellent self-direction working alone or in small teams with little direct supervision

Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment
