M. R. Tanner Construction is seeking a dependable and hardworking Asphalt Laborer to join our construction team. This position performs a variety of physical labor tasks associated with asphalt paving, roadway construction, grading, patching, and site preparation. The Asphalt Laborer works closely with paving crews, equipment operators, and foremen to support safe and efficient project completion throughout Arizona job sites.
Job Responsibility
Assist with asphalt paving, patching, sealing, grading, and roadway repair operations
Shovel, rake, lute, and spread asphalt materials as directed
Prepare job sites by cleaning surfaces, removing debris, and setting traffic control devices
Support equipment operators and paving crews during asphalt placement and compaction
Operate hand tools, power tools, compactors, jackhammers, and small construction equipment
Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations
Direct traffic and assist with flagging operations when required
Perform general labor duties including digging, lifting, carrying, and site cleanup
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme Arizona heat
Follow supervisor instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently and safely
Requirements
Previous asphalt, paving, roadway, or construction labor experience preferred
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 50–75 pounds regularly
Reliable transportation to and from job sites
Basic knowledge of construction safety practices preferred
Pre employment drug screen required for illegal substances
Nice to have
Previous asphalt, paving, roadway, or construction labor experience preferred
