The ASEAN Corporate Credit Underwriting Cluster Head and ICM Head of Philippines (“ASEAN Corporate Underwriting Cluster Head and ICM Head of Philippines”) manages a team of Corporate Underwriters, covering large and complex relationships within the ASEAN region (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam), being responsible for all underwriting activities, in partnership with Banking and Risk. In addition, the individual, in their capacity as the ICM Head of Philippines, will be responsible for delivering ICM’s capabilities in the Philippines and managing our in-country footprint across teams in Citibank N.A. (CBNA) and Regional Operating Headquarters (ROHQ) in Manila. They will work closely with ICM functional heads in the Philippines and country businesses, as well as risk partners, to ensure best-in-class wholesale credit management capabilities. The individual will play an important role in partnering with global and country management teams to deliver a cohesive unit for our franchise in this space.
Job Responsibility
Provide first line of defense credit approval for the most complex transactions
Adoption of leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring, including the end-to-end underwriting process, from early origination discussions to development of credit approval memos, and senior approval forums
Supports function’s close engagement with global and Regional Business Heads, Independent Risk, regulators, and other control functions
Facilitate relationships with key clients in Banking and Risk and with key Regulators, Internal Audit, and control functions
Representing ICM in the Country Coordination Committee.
Co-ordinating with regional and global seniors of the various ICM verticals to ensure the franchise in Philippines delivers best-in-class wholesale credit management capabilities.
Manage large, diverse, and high performing team
Support the functional and matrix managers on their strategic initiatives/projects
Support VOE initiatives
Requirements
15+ years of experience with at least 10 years of relevant experience
Experience in risk/risk-related credit work experience in banking/financial institutions
Senior Credit Officer designation (or similar designation) or higher is required
Prior experience in 1st line of defense would be preferred
Proven ability to effectively engage with regulators and internal control functions including Internal Audit and Credit Risk and Review as well as with external audit
Demonstrates strong ethics and integrity
Ability to see the ‘big picture’ in a complex environment
Can make decisions under pressure and short timeline
Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Active listening skills.
Demonstrated influencing and negotiating ability, resolve conflicts amongst various constituencies
Excellent presentation skills – adept at presenting effectively to audiences of various sizes and various constituencies
Education: Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent. Master's degree preferred
