Job Description

Are you an imaginative and skilled creative seeking a dynamic role in the world of publishing? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Pan Macmillan’s art team, where your technical expertise in preparing artwork for both print and digital mediums will be vital.

Job Responsibility

  • Produce quality artwork: Create, correct, and adjust high-quality artwork for print, ensuring technical and visual consistency across all adult imprints and select children’s imprints
  • Technical collaboration: Resolve technical print issues by acting as a clear link between the Design and Production teams, including direct liaison with external printers to coordinate complex details like spot colours, foils, and embossing
  • Cross-departmental teamwork: Collaborate closely with Editorial to provide artwork for review and approval, and coordinate with Production and Editorial on Critical Path timelines, proofing, corrections, and asset retrieval
  • Support commercial teams: Supply Sales, Marketing, and Rights teams with necessary visual assets, sales materials, professional-grade mock-ups, highly finished visuals, and dummies for presentations
  • Manage data: Handle data entry and reporting within the Biblio system to ensure accurate publishing information and support Critical Path control
  • Improve how we work: Actively engage with new tools and workflows to improve team efficiency and innovation

Requirements

  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) with the ability to take a design seamlessly from concept to print-ready artwork
  • Proven artwork experience within a book publishing environment, demonstrating a solid understanding of book design and print-production processes
  • A methodical approach to file management, proofing, and asset retrieval while managing multiple projects to meet tight deadlines
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across different internal teams (Design, Production, Editorial, and Sales)
  • Comfortable working with workflow systems and tools, specifically Google Workspace and publishing management systems (ideally Biblio)
