We are seeking an inspiring Art Teacher to join a specialist SEMH Alternative Provision in Crawley from September. This setting supports students aged 5–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including young people who may have struggled to access mainstream education due to anxiety, emotional difficulties, or previous school-based challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity to use creativity as a tool to engage, inspire, and build confidence in young people who thrive in a more personalised and nurturing educational environment.
Job Responsibility
Deliver engaging and creative Art lessons to students across Key Stages 2, 3, and 4
Adapt lessons to meet a range of learning needs and abilities
Use art as a way to encourage self-expression, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
Build positive relationships with students and support them to re-engage with learning
Work closely with support staff and pastoral teams to ensure students achieve their potential
Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent teaching qualification
Has experience teaching Art at primary, secondary, or alternative provision level
Has experience with, or a strong understanding of, SEMH and SEND
Is confident managing behaviour and using positive de-escalation strategies
Can build strong relationships with students who may be disengaged from education
Is patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
Brings energy, creativity, and enthusiasm into the classroom
