Job Description

Art Teacher – Flexible short-term and long-term opportunities available immediately. These flexible opportunities are ideal for Art Teachers who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different secondary school settings. You will be supporting pupils in Welwyn Garden City and the surrounding areas, delivering creative and engaging Art lessons across a range of year groups.

Job Responsibility

Deliver engaging Art lessons using provided plans
Teach a range of techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media
Encourage creativity, experimentation, and individual expression
Support pupils in developing technical skills and confidence in their artwork
Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of mixed‑ability learners
Assess and record pupil progress where required
Contribute to departmental activities during longer‑term placements
Promote a positive and inspiring creative learning environment

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Strong subject knowledge in Art and Design
Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
Ability to motivate and inspire pupils creatively
Adaptable across different year groups and school environments
Good organisation and time‑management skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
Willingness to engage in professional development
