Job Description:

Digital Sun is a standout studio in the indie game world. With three successful titles behind us and new ambitious projects underway, we’re looking for someone ready to help shape the visual identity of our next games and lead our talented team of artists. We’re searching for an experienced Art Lead or Art Director to join our in-house team in Valencia, Spain. If you’re passionate about building worlds, guiding artistic vision, and also creating high-level art yourself, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and maintain the visual direction of our games, in collaboration with the game directors and leads from other disciplines
  • Guide and mentor the art team (2D, 3D, animation, VFX, UI) to deliver consistent, high-quality visuals
  • Create key art assets and visual benchmarks. This role includes hands-on artistic work at a high level
  • Help plan and prioritize the art team’s workload, balancing creative ambition with production needs
  • Ensure the artistic vision stays aligned across all areas: characters, environments, UI, and more
  • Provide feedback and support to artists to help them grow and reach their full potential

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in the game industry, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or director role
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating both high-quality personal work and leadership over a coherent visual style
  • Experience overseeing multiple art disciplines (2D, 3D, UI, etc.) within a game team
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both artists and non-artists
  • Proven track record of shipping high-quality games with a cohesive artistic direction
  • Experience working with game engines like Unity or Unreal

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on experience creating both 2D and 3D assets
  • Experience managing outsourcing or freelance artists
  • Strong understanding of pipelines, tools, and workflows for games development
  • Experience with shaders, lighting, VFX, or technical art
  • Familiarity with agile production environments
  • Experience being part of a game project from early incubation all the way through post-production
What we offer:
  • Flexible working hours with the option to work remotely one day per week
  • Work-life balance made easier with a 35-hour work week (7-hour workday)
  • Competitive salary, aligned with your experience and profile
  • A supportive and dynamic work environment, where creativity and collaboration thrive
  • The opportunity to work on top-tier, high-quality games that push the boundaries of innovation
  • Complimentary breakfast every morning at the office to start your day right
  • Private health insurance subsidy to help keep you and your loved ones protected
  • Mental health support because we care about your well-being
  • Free language classes in both English and Spanish to help you grow personally and professionally
  • Optional benefits for transportation and dining to make your daily routine smoother
  • Regular social events and team gatherings, fostering a strong sense of community and fun
