Digital Sun is a standout studio in the indie game world. With three successful titles behind us and new ambitious projects underway, we’re looking for someone ready to help shape the visual identity of our next games and lead our talented team of artists. We’re searching for an experienced Art Lead or Art Director to join our in-house team in Valencia, Spain. If you’re passionate about building worlds, guiding artistic vision, and also creating high-level art yourself, we’d love to hear from you.
Job Responsibility:
Define and maintain the visual direction of our games, in collaboration with the game directors and leads from other disciplines
Guide and mentor the art team (2D, 3D, animation, VFX, UI) to deliver consistent, high-quality visuals
Create key art assets and visual benchmarks. This role includes hands-on artistic work at a high level
Help plan and prioritize the art team’s workload, balancing creative ambition with production needs
Ensure the artistic vision stays aligned across all areas: characters, environments, UI, and more
Provide feedback and support to artists to help them grow and reach their full potential
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in the game industry, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or director role
A strong portfolio demonstrating both high-quality personal work and leadership over a coherent visual style
Experience overseeing multiple art disciplines (2D, 3D, UI, etc.) within a game team
Ability to communicate clearly with both artists and non-artists
Proven track record of shipping high-quality games with a cohesive artistic direction
Experience working with game engines like Unity or Unreal
Nice to have:
Hands-on experience creating both 2D and 3D assets
Experience managing outsourcing or freelance artists
Strong understanding of pipelines, tools, and workflows for games development
Experience with shaders, lighting, VFX, or technical art
Familiarity with agile production environments
Experience being part of a game project from early incubation all the way through post-production
