Job Responsibility:
Studio Leadership: Plan and deliver high-calibre Art & Design lessons across KS3 and KS4, with frequent opportunities to lead A-Level Fine Art, Photography, or Graphic Communication modules
Technical Instruction: Model advanced techniques across diverse media, including painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and digital design (Adobe Suite)
Portfolio Development: Guide Year 11 and Year 13 students through the rigorous process of building portfolios for GCSE/A-Level moderation and university applications
Art History & Theory: Integrate critical studies into practical work, helping students analyse the social, historical, and cultural contexts of art
Curatorial Excellence: Lead school exhibitions and gallery displays, showcasing student work to the wider St John's Wood community and fostering a sense of professional pride
Inclusive Creativity: Differentiate projects to ensure that all students, regardless of their starting technical ability, can find their creative voice and achieve high-grade outcomes
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Fine Art, Design, or a related creative discipline
Creative Portfolio: A strong personal practice and a deep understanding of the current GCSE/A-Level assessment objectives (AQA/Edexcel)
Studio Management: The ability to manage a busy art room, ensuring health and safety standards are met and resources are utilised effectively
