Job Description:

A vibrant secondary school in Leeds is seeking a dedicated Art & Design and Graphic Products Teacher to join their Creative Arts faculty immediately. This is a full-time, ongoing position designed for an educator who is as comfortable with a paintbrush as they are with CAD software. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a love for aesthetics while maintaining the technical rigour required for Graphic Products. You will be stepping into a role that demands both artistic sensitivity and a practical understanding of design-and-make principles.

Job Responsibility:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Planning and teaching the Graphic Products syllabus at KS3 and KS4
  • Technical Instruction: Teaching the design cycle, from initial sketching to final prototyping
  • Software Literacy: Utilising Adobe Creative Suite (Photo shop/Illustrator) or 2D Design software
  • Workshop Safety: Ensuring all health and safety protocols are met within the design lab
  • Resource Management: Maintaining equipment and ordering consumables (foam board, vinyl, etc.)
  • Industry Context: Linking classroom projects to real-world careers in branding and architecture
  • Marking & Feedback: Providing constructive, timely critiques to refine student designs
  • Progress Tracking: Monitoring student data to ensure all learners meet their targets
  • Parental Engagement: Participating in parents' evenings to discuss student portfolios
  • Collaborative Planning: Working with the DT department to share best practices and resources

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Understanding of GCSE marking criteria and moderation
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
