Job Responsibility

  • Will be dyad partner to the Chief of Neurology and Chief of Neurosurgery and responsible for all operational outputs, strategy development, and academic operations across the Wake Area
  • Serves as convener for spine care between orthopedic spine, neuro spine, anesthesia/pain and physiatry for the division
  • Develops and executes strategies to expand and align all neurology, neurosurgery, spine and pain services across the division
  • Designs and monitors spine and neurosurgery quality metrics and reporting as well as certifications
  • Builds neurosciences strategy in partnership with all service lines, and area facility and operational leaders
  • Assures reduction in variation in care including care protocols and vendor contracts
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates projects, services, policies and procedures with the goal of ongoing performance improvement
  • Participates in the decision-making structure and processes with administrative and clinical leadership and medical team members. Develops and manages the materials for leadership and administrative team meetings
  • Develops and manages systems, policies and procedures for spine and neurosurgery across the division
  • Prepares financial analyses to evaluate initiatives and assists the leadership team in the development of the annual financial and strategic plans
  • Oversees research on designated topics and benchmarks with current literature and evidenced based practices in healthcare
  • Participates in the Administrator-On-Call rotation
  • Provides effective and coordinated leadership in the development of and presentation of business unit plans
  • Works effectively with other disciplines. Assures effective communications occur between other disciplines, nursing services and leadership
  • Assists with facility-wide event planning, manages the intern program, and the annual physician satisfaction survey process, including the associated action plan to ensure high levels of physician engagement
  • Recruits, onboards, and retains neurosurgery and spine clinicians, and support staff
  • Drive programs that improve access, communication, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or other related field required
  • 5 years of related work experience in progressively complex roles
  • Ability to establish excellent working relationships and strategic partnerships with various teams, physicians, executives, and other team members across a large organization to active a shared vision, values, and objectives
  • Results oriented and strong execution skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, creative facilitation, and innovation in collaboration with leaders across the organization
  • Knowledge of trends in health care delivery and understanding of health care dynamics within an integrated health system
  • Financial acumen and excellent communications skills
  • Must continuously be able to stand, and have use of both hands and all fingers, speak clearly, hear, and see less than 20 inches and a distance of more than 20 ft.
  • Requires inside work with occasional intermittent noise and exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, and chemicals. Has critical thinking and ability to concentrate.
  • One must be able to respond quickly in stressful situations.
