Job Description

The roofing and insulation division in Canada is seeking an Area Sales Manager (ASM) for British Columbia, Canada. This position will be responsible for all aspects of sales and service primarily in the building materials channel. The Area Sales Manager is responsible for executing Owens Corning's Roofing. Mineral Wool and Insulation growth strategy. Working closely with the Technical Sales Representative and other Western Canada ASMs, this individual will foster current customer growth as well as identify and pursue profitable new business opportunities within the retail dealer network and commercial channel. This position reports to Regional Sales Leader. Home Office Based: Lower Mainland/ Home office based, British Columbia.

Job Responsibility

  • Execute Owens Corning's Roofing, Mineral Wool and Insulation growth strategy
  • Foster current customer growth and identify and pursue profitable new business opportunities within the retail dealer network and commercial channel
  • Build intimate insight and knowledge of the market and customers
  • Develop territory strategy including environmental analysis
  • Execute customer strategy and deliver results
  • Manage margin through strategic price and cost management
  • Identify and develop process changes to eliminate waste
  • Establish strong customer relationships
  • Ensure a safe and environmentally compliant work environment

Requirements

  • Experience in the roofing/building materials industry preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a sale from cold call through close
  • Operating across geographic and cultural boundaries
  • Ability to market, educate and sell new products and services

  • Solid experience delivering impactful presentations and demonstrations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an intimate knowledge of customers, competition, and the market
  • Building science knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Minimum 3 years sales experience preferred

  • Assumes responsibility for sales of crop nutrients to targeted customers by maintaining regular and ongoing contact with the customer's designated purchasing/procurement personnel
  • Communicates market information, prices, and programs offered by GROWMARK and its various manufacturers/providers of products and services
  • Assists with implementation of Crop Nutrients Division strategies and programs, including the communication of customer supply plans and intents to the marketing team
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing strategies and pursues new business opportunities that will result in increased market penetration for both member cooperatives and non-member accounts
  • Maintains an analysis of the major competitors in the marketplace and provide market intelligence information to Crop Nutrients Division personnel
  • Develops and presents sales strategies to specifically target competitive approaches and pressures
  • Assumes responsibility for all customer orders for division products and programs within the assigned area
  • Achieves and maintains a high level of knowledge regarding regional agronomy marketers in the assigned area and assists in the acquisition of product, as requested by customers
  • Participates in the development of the Crop Nutrients Division objectives, goals, and operating policies
